In tarot readings there are basic one and three card spreads that can be used to answer a question you have, but there are also more in-depth spreads. A common larger spread is known as the seven card spread. If you are seeking more then just a simple answer to your question, then tarot readings using the larger, seven card spread may be of better help.

The seven card spread is just that, a layout of seven cards lined up in a row for tarot readings. Shuffle the deck while thinking of your question. When you feel you are intuitively ready, split the deck up into three piles. Place the first pile to the far left, then the second to the right of the first, and finally the last beside the middle pile.

Once you have three piles, take the pile to your right and stack it on top of the middle pile, then take that pile and place it on top of the last pile. Now you can begin flipping over cards. Flip the first card and place it to the far left, and then continue flipping and placing the remaining six cards to the right of the one before it.

Tarot readings begin once all the cards (numbered from one to seven starting on the left) have been spread out. The answer to your question can then be derived from that spread as listed below.

Card one: Situation.
Card two: Details.
Card three: Thoughts.
Card four: Assets.
Card five: Liabilities.
Card six: Development.
Card seven: Result.
